Remember
that the essays are to be at least three typed pages, double spaced.
You are also welcome to write a single six-page paper instead of a third
and fourth three-page paper for the second half of the class, due on
the day of the final exam. The essays are due the class period after
they are assigned, the date that they appear on the syllabus. You are
welcome to email the papers to me at ericgerlach@gmail.com. You are also
welcome to use your life experience or outside sources as evidence for
your argument, but make sure to focus on your argument. General themes
we have covered that are good for papers include:
1) Popper vs Feyerabend on the method of science
2) The Structuralism of Levi-Strauss vs the Poststructuralism of Foucault
3) The Postmodernism of Derrida vs the Positivism of Searle
